Intercom

Connecting Intercom

To connect Intercom, head to the Integrations page in Flywheel. Or, you can click on the Integrations tab in the left navigation. From there, find the Intercom integration card and click on Connect

You’ll now be prompted to log into Intercom. After doing so, select the Intercom account you’d like to connect and click Authorize access. You’re done!

What Flywheel syncs from Intercom

The following Intercom object types are currently supported in Flywheel:

  • People

  • Companies

  • Articles

  • Events

Here is how Flywheel maps these data objects into our own schema.

Intercom Companies  ->  Flywheel Accounts
Intercom People  ->  Flywheel Contacts
Intercom Articles  ->  Flywheel Assets (in the Articles category)
Intercom Events -> Flywheel Tracked events

Contacts are synced by matching email addresses in Flywheel with email addresses in Intercom.

Accounts are synced by matching domains in Flywheel with domains in Intercom. If you haven’t already added a domain for an Account, we will try to determine a domain by looking at the email addresses of the contacts associated with that Account.

Re-syncing Intercom accounts

If you believe something needs updated with your Intercom integration, you can re-integrate in a few clicks. Navigate to the Integrations page, then click on the rotating arrows next to the Intercom account you’d like to re-integrate. Doing so will take you back to the same page you saw when originally integrating.

Choose the Intercom account that you’d like to re-integrate with, then click Authorize access.

Changing Intercom data

Every Contact, Account, and Article synced from Intercom have an icon that links to their Intercom page. Simply click on that icon, change the data in Intercom, and refresh the page in Flywheel to see the updated information.

Sending data back to Intercom

Flywheel does not currently support bidirectional data syncs. This means that Flywheel is unable to change the data in your Intercom instance. If you’d like this functionality, reach out and let us know.
