1Password uses an embedded modal to encourage users through their onboarding flow. One of these embedded modals highlights the ability to add two-factor authentication as an additional security method.

This modal contains three primary CTAs (calls to action). They are:

  1. A link to documentation explaining how to implement two-factor authentication

  2. The ability to scan a QR code to quickly add two-factor authentication

  3. The choice to ignore this onboarding step

This embedded modal is effective for a few reasons. First, it gives a fast-track method for enabling the feature — in this case, via a QR code. Second, it allows users to opt out with language that makes it clear they're ignoring an important step. While a user can also close the modal by clicking the dismissal button, adding a secondary dismissal CTA prevents users from dismissing out of habit. Third and finally, linking to documentation allows privacy-conscious users to learn more about how the feature works before implementing.

Overall, we believe the 1Password embedded modal is an elegant implementation of what can traditionally be a tiresome and fatiguing onboarding process. Well done!
